OK - It's obviously almost June - I said December 6th - that would be what we are talking about  in Social Studies - The field trip is JUNE 6th to the USS Slater - Please accept my apologies!!!
Correction to the May newsletter - the field trip to the USS Slater is December 6th not the 4th!
Also, the Spring Concert is on June 13th - So much information!!!
MAY NEWS!
 
 
The year is winding down and the students are absolutely BLOOMING!  We hope you had an opportunity to join us at Community Day on May 11th. It turned out to be quite a success and the students had a Blast!
 
This month we had a visit from a famous Illustrator Liz Zunon as part of our Junior Writer's Week and the students displayed their writing portfolios.
 
The student council had a Basketball Shoot-For -A-Well Competition and a Car Wash to raise money for our community service project this month and the PTA sponsored a plant sale.
 
It has been a busy few months for TESTING and we will be finishing up our NWEA tests next week in math, as well as, our benchmarks in Aimsweb and Fountas and Pinell.
 
In Science, we are experimenting with plants and learning about how the Earths surface changes due to erosion and weathering. We will also be receiving some silkworms to take care of!
 
In writing and Social Studies we are learning about Historical Fiction and past Wars.
 
In Math we are finishing up a unit on measurement and moving into geometry.
 
 
Things to look for in June:
 
An upcoming Field trip to The USS Slater - June 4th - Field Trip Slips to come home shortly!
 
Family Field Day - June 7th * wear appropriate clothing please!
 
Awards Day - June 12th 10:00 a.m.
 
Spring Concert - 1:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.
 
Father's Day Breakfast - June 17th 7:30 - 8:00 a.m.

April News!

Hello Families - It has been so busy!

A few friendly reminders:

Book reports are due April 16th -

Testing is next week for ELA and the following week for Math - make sure your child is at school on time, well fed and rested!

We have been emerged in fractions and problem solving in math. I hope your students have shared their exciting new ways of showing how to do their homework.

Our new student teachers Mr. Cruz and Miss Dalia have been helping us with our daily activities and have become an important part of our classrooms!

This month we will have a visit from Siena college students and they will share their science experiments with us! So exciting!

January News!

Happy New Year!

It's great to be back to work and we are!

In December all of the fifth grade students graduated from the G.R.E.A.T. program! The Anti-Gang Program. A big Thank You to Officer JOE! We are so proud of them!

On January 16th we will be going on a field trip to SUNY Albany to see a basketball game. Be on the lookout for a field trip slip.

On January 17th we will celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr. day in the gymnasium at 1:00 p.m.  Please join us for this annual event. We look forward to seeing everyone there!

The week of January 28th we will join Albany High School students in a collaborative activity involving "cells."
